Rhoda Lee Lightfoot
Miss Rhoda L. Lightfoot was born July 11, 1919, in Culpeper, Virginia. Per the 1940 U.S. Census her parents were Hannibal Buchanan and Cora Gordon Lightfoot. The 1940 U.S. Census indicates that Miss Lightfoot completed 3 years of college. Miss Lightfoot served as a Private in the U.S. Air Force (Korea) from August 16, 1950, to November 2, 1950. She was appointed teacher at the Morgantown School in January 1951 after Ms. Helen Anderson’s resignation was accepted by the School Board. Miss Lightfoot did not continue at Morgantown after the 1950-51 term ended because Miss Eura Hudgins was appointed to the Morgantown School in September 1951. In 1955, Miss Lightfoot was living in Richmond Va. She is still a teacher. Her last school system was in Hanover County, Va. Miss Lightfoot passed away June 22, 1988. She is buried at Culpeper National Cemetery.
